Fight ALS! A Fundraiser for Jon Merrell

Fight ALS! A Fundraiser for Jon Merrell

Jon Merrell – Yakima native and husband of former Invisible Ink designer Lindsey – needs your help. In 2024 Jon was diagnosed with ALS after experiencing symptoms that were first attributed to ongoing medical issues from an accident in 2021 when he was struck by a car while riding his bike to work.

Doctors think trauma from the accident likely caused Jon to develop ALS, and the disease has progressed rapidly over the past year. As a result, Jon has been forced in to an early retirement due to loss of mobility. As a talented artist, illustrator and musician, the loss of motor skills means he can no longer do many of things he loved, and the Merrell family has been saddled with growing medical bills and daily challenges of raising a daughter while adapting to this new reality.

This February 21st, we’re joining friends and family of the Merrells at a fundraising event here in Yakima to help raise money for medical expenses not covered by insurance, as well as costs for home renovation and mobility devices. The family-friendly event will feature live music, activities and a silent auction with items donated by local businesses, artists and friends.

Join us in supporting the Merrell family through this difficult time and help us show Jon and Lindsey some love. There may not be a cure for ALS, but that doesn’t mean we can’t help make a difference. If you can’t make it to the event, you can find a link to their GoFundMe or send Jon a message of encouragement at jonmerrell.com.
